Welcome to my blog.

As a collector of Canal & Waterway books and ephemera for the past 40 years, I have occasionally encountered books and articles which seem to be completely unknown, unrecognised or forgotten and which do not appear in any of the recognized canal bibliographies. Some of these seem to deserve better recognition. For todays reader such books can offer a treasure trove of information e.g comments on now disused waterways and anecdotes on the working canal population encountered by these authors of the past.

My collection is strong in titles from the 1850's to the 1980's and includes both fiction and non fiction titles. Canal voyages and travel and social history on both UK and European waterways have been my main interests.I have particularly enjoyed collecting childrens fiction with a waterways theme, an area which seems very neglected but where I have found many 'gems' over the years.

So my purpose in blogging is to introduce folks to books and magazines etc that they may never have heard of and so if after reading one of my blogs you are tempted to search for one of these old 'tomes' I am sure you will be well rewarded. All opinions expressed are of course my own.
